Permanent magnet motors (PMAC motors) are an evolution of alternating and direct current motor technology. They are built using powerful permanent magnets in place of rotor windings and brushes traditionally found within standard induction electric motors. This internal design allows permanent magnet motors greater benefits in motor life, energy efficiency, and speed control. PMAC motors are built to operate at low speeds while maintaining a high torque, something induction motors are not well suited for without a gearbox.
