Direct Current motors (DC motors) are single-phase electric motors with very high torque capabilities. Using high-strength permanent magnets (which require no current from the power supply), DC motors deliver a high power efficiency. DC motors are versatile and excel in constant or variable speed applications. DC motors are single phase devices that are used in applications requiring adjustable speed control. You can pair a DC motor with a solid state control device to give programmed acceleration and deceleration over a range of selected speeds.
